Change is necessary with time and so is evident with the current scenario in India. I very much, am talking about the drive to remove corruption headed by Anna Hazare. It often, is very difficult to bring a change in the society when the stems of the target are so deeply rooted, and so making it all the more important to remove them carefully without damaging the soil.
Anna Hazare wants to bring about a change in the society by removing corruption from it and hence has proposed the lokpal bill to be introduced in the system and has gained a lot of support too. But what is sad to see is that 90% of his supporters do not even know about the lokpal bill in detail(except from the fact that it might help in removing or controlling corruption by the formation of an independent body taking care of public grievances by filing cases against the corrupt officials), and neither do I know more than this. So shall I not comment on it....not really, because I am not here to talk whether it should be introduced or not, maybe it would be helpful, maybe not, maybe it could be misused. I cannot give a judgement on it, maybe not even an opinion.....that is the job of the intellects having the complete knowledge about the bill.
What I want to talk about using this example, is the ways to bring a change in society, being more important than the change itself since they will be responsible for its longevity and stability. The ways adopted by Anna Hazare are very cheap and immature at the same time. Keeping a fast till death until your voice is not accepted is in technical terms a 'blackmail' no matter whether it is right or wrong. It is like a kid not eating his dinner until he gets a toy of his choice. He may get his toy for the first time, maybe at second too but will definitely get a slap from his mother the third time, and eventually the kid will eat his food crying. This is not a way to get your things done, especially by a 74 year old person.
Let me take another example. Suppose a town is experiencing a lot of robberies everyday, lets call it New Delhi. It is becoming a big problem for the government with each passing day. Question is what to do to stop it. Most of the people would say increase the security of the town, make it more efficient or maybe make the punishment more stringent. Suppose the proposed actions are taken. Will the robberies stop....not really i guess, because homes and banks are still robbed even in the most high secured cities of America, leave alone New Delhi, and everyone knows the level of efficiency of cops over there. So then what is the solution to problems like corruption, robberies, even terrorism.
The answer is Moral Education. If every person residing in a city has good values imparted in him/her, such problems will never arise. There will be no one corrupt, there will be no robber and there will be no terrorist if every person understands the difference between right and wrong. The thinking is required to change, the people will, automatically. I remember when I was in school, a subject named moral education was taught to us but it was there only for a year or two, till grade eight I guess, when it actually should have been till grade twelve, being in fact more important than our physics and chemistry. So if Anna Hazare really wants to remove corruption, then certainly it wont be possible by removing corrupt people. You stop a few, a few more will come in the next few time.
Removing corrupt people will not remove corruption, removing corruption will remove corruption.

well i think one should not underestimate the intelligence of the youth..they adapt to changes quicker. Moral education is not a course of some years which will take years to set in but an ideology in itself which can change the mindset of a person in minutes...moreover the question was never about the old ones who are making black money, their number is far less than who are giving....they will change automatically once the giving stops....its like a cigarette...never forces us to get addicted..its just that we fall for it and then blame the cigarette.
